Discovered by Vollrad Etzel in 1974. In this year he also managed to breed them in captivity.
He collected them 2 km southwest of Gouessesso & another locality near Yo (type locality) in western Ivory Coast.

Breeding Notes

Sexual maturity of young in 20 weeks. Full maturity in 6 months. Will live to 3-4 years. Material referenced from Killi-Data.
